Ocean Isle Beach, NC – ATMC recently completed construction for their FOCUS fiber optic service on the east end of Ocean Isle Beach. Businesses and residents located on Causeway Drive through Shallotte Boulevard and from East 1st Street through East 7th Street now have access to high speed Internet with speeds of up to 1Gig. ATMC is replacing the current copper facilities that serve the island with fiber optic technology which is extremely reliable and capable of delivering voice, video and unshared bandwidth all through one connection.
“Over the years, exposure to the harsh elements on the island have made the copper facilities susceptible to corrosion which requires more upkeep, “said Keith Holden, ATMC CEO. “By deploying fiber optic technology, we are able to serve the island with communications services that provide not only increased reliability, but also greater internet speeds of up to one gigabit.”
According to research conducted by the national Fiber to the Home Council, access to fiber optics increases a home’s value by 3.1%, that’s an additional $5,000 for the median priced home. Businesses who take advantage of FOCUS fiber optics will have greater opportunities for cloud-based applications and will benefit from symmetrical upload and download speeds.
Construction on the west end of the island will begin after Labor Day. The $5.5 million dollar investment is scheduled to be completed by late 2018 and will provide more than 6,000 residents and businesses on the island with access to one Gigabit broadband speeds. ATMC is already converting customers to the new fiber optic network, and in time, all residents on the island served by ATMC will be converted to fiber optics.
Residents and businesses on the east end of Ocean Isle Beach can sign up for fiber optic service by calling, 910-754-4311. For more information on ATMC FOCUS fiber optics, or to find out when service will be available in additional areas of Ocean Isle Beach, please visit iwantATMC.com.
