Over 130 students under the care of the Brunswick County Department of Social Services (DSS), will be fully supplied as they enter the new school year. They will each receive a back pack with all of the supplies detailed on the Brunswick County School District supply list for the upcoming school year. Each book bag is prepared for an individual student based on their gender and grade and the list of supplies required for their specific grade.
On Sunday August 11 members of the WAVES 4 K.I.D.S. board of directors worked side by side with DSS social workers, and other community volunteers. After loading all of the filled book bags into a two vans they are taken to the DSS facility in Bolivia. From there the social workers will deliver them to the individual students at their homes.
WAVES 4 K.I.D.S. conducts their Stuffing Book Bags initiative every August. Funding needed to purchase the extensive amount of supplies comes from contributions, grants, and fund raising events throughout the year.
Any donations to help support this initiative next year are welcome and can be made at the website waves4kids.org
